Lindsay DeGroot, LCPC, LSC, CCTP, EAP
Clinical Supervisor
I work with folks who’ve been through tough times and are ready to take back the reins of their lives. My practice is rooted in the belief that, no matter where we come from or what we’ve been through, we all have the grit and resilience to face life head-on. Using trauma-focused therapies like EMDR, along with a foundation in transpersonal psychology, I help people tap into their inner strength, heal from the past, and move forward with purpose.
Growing up on a cattle ranch in Ennis, Montana, I understand the value of hard work, perseverance, and a no-nonsense approach to life. My therapy style reflects that—straightforward, down-to-earth, and collaborative. Together, we’ll focus on what works for you, blending tools like mindfulness, DBT, and equine-assisted therapy to help you build the life you want.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Licensed School Counselor (LSC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with additional certifications in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Babywearing Education. Over the years, I’ve worked as a school counselor, a child and family therapist in community mental health, and now in private practice. My background also includes extensive training in trauma neurobiology, EMDR, mindfulness, attachment theory, Collaborative Problem Solving, and more. I also provide clinical supervision and serve as adjunct faculty at Montana State University in the counseling department.
When I’m not working, I’m living the Montana life—hiking, skiing, horseback riding, or tending to my garden and animals. I believe the connection we have to the land, the animals, and each other plays a big role in healing, and I bring that philosophy into my work. Whether you’re a rancher, a teacher, a parent, or anything in between, I’m here to help you tackle life’s challenges with courage and determination. Let’s get to work.

Cassie Ubaldo, PCLC
Growing up in the rural landscapes of Montana has bestowed upon me a unique perspective on mental health. I deeply empathize with the inherent challenges of opening up about our struggles and the courage it takes to seek help. This understanding guides every counseling relationship I forge, as I firmly believe that individuals are the ultimate authorities of their own lives. My role is to serve as a supportive sounding board and a provider of skills to facilitate their personal growth.
In 2011, my mental health career began as a school counselor and program coordinator at a prominent high school in Montana. Within this role, I had the privilege of working with at-risk students, ensuring they received the necessary support and remained connected to the school community, all with the aim of reducing dropout rates. I collaborated closely with high-risk students, those requiring additional assistance, and those who faced expulsion for non-violent offenses. Together with school resource officers, administrators, teachers, and probation officers, we fostered a comprehensive support network for these students, offering a holistic approach to their well-being.
In 2016, my husband and I made the decision to return to the Ruby Valley and assist my parents with our multi-generation guest ranch business. As I reconnected with my family ranch, I assumed responsibility for equine-assisted military training. It was during these training sessions that I discovered a profound passion for working with service men and women. Over the past five years, I have dedicated myself to developing a cognitive optimization program for active-duty personnel, transitioning military members, retired veterans, and Veterans. Through Upper Canyon Outreach, a 501(c)3 organization, our primary objective is to align individuals' ideal selves with their real selves, empowering them to achieve personal congruence.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Education with an emphasis in school counseling, both earned from Montana State University. Whenever possible, I integrate equine-assisted activities into my therapeutic approach, as I have received training and certification in PATH International, EAGALA, Herd Institute, and Natural Lifemanship.
At the core of my practice, I am dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing space for clients to embark on their transformative journey. It would be an honor to join you on this path of self-discovery and growth. Please don't hesitate to reach out, and together, let's create a therapeutic alliance where you can flourish and find the support you deserve.

Tara Hanel, PCLC
Hello there! I'm thrilled to introduce myself as a passionate provisionally licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a deep commitment to serving the unique needs of rural Montana communities. As a graduate of Montana State University's dual licensure pathway, I have gained invaluable skills in using Existential Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness to help individual clients and couples unlock their inner strengths, values, and purpose. I truly believe that fostering positive self-concepts and feelings of self-worth is crucial in the journey to overcoming addiction and trauma. As your counselor, I strive to be a trusted support system, guiding you through the ups and downs of self-discovery with a dash of humor and lightheartedness. After all, laughter can be the best medicine!
I was raised on a cattle ranch in rural South Dakota near the Rosebud Reservation, where I learned the importance of hard work, community, and family. In 2005, I moved to Montana to attend MSU and immediately fell in love with this breathtaking state - from the rolling prairies to the majestic mountains, Montana has it all. Since then, Montana has been my home, and I feel blessed to be able to raise my four wonderful children with the same rural values and sense of adventure that I experienced in my childhood. When I'm not in the office, you can usually find me exploring Montana's great outdoors - hiking mountain trails, playing in the rivers, and skiing down the slopes. I love to embrace every opportunity to get outside, discover new places, and make the most of this incredible state. I hope to share some of that spirit with you as we work together to achieve your mental and emotional wellness goals.
I'm a pre-licensed clinical professional counselor (PCLC) working towards an addictions counselor status with a wealth of experience and training to help you achieve your mental and emotional wellness goals. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from 2008 and a Master of Science in Counseling from 2023. My professional journey has taken me to diverse settings, from hypnotherapy, to providing therapy to preschoolers and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to delivering addictions treatment to individuals incarcerated at the Gallatin Valley Detention Center. In addition, I have also provided individual counseling to teenagers and adults through the Health and Human Development Clinic and student health services at Montana State University. I'm excited to work with you and support your journey to greater wellness.

Skye Wyrick, MSW, LCSW
Skye lives in Montana and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with children and families since 2014 in a variety of settings, including schools, homes, and private practice. She received her Master of Social Work in 2014 from the University of North Dakota, and primarily uses a treatment modality called Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. As a CBT focused therapist, Skye helps her client to learn and understand the deep connection between thoughts, behaviors and actions and how to to acknowledge and alter thoughts according to set goals. As we begin to recognize this connection, our control over ourselves strengthens. Skye also intertwines mindfulness and breathwork into her practice regularly as she believes each of us have a powerful mind and body connection. Most importantly, Skye believes in a client-led approach to therapy, meaning she is willing to meet her client where they are, set goals together and move forward at their own pace. Joining into therapy should always be a safe and open space. Skye spends most of her time working with teens and pre-teens, learning to cope with and understand symptoms of anxiety and depression, managing ADHD, supporting self- advocacy, learning self- regulating skills and living with trauma. When she’s not meeting with clients, Skye is found with her husband, daughter, and doodle, usually outside hiking, camping, adventuring, and having fun together.
